'Seascape with Sailboats', signed, oil on canvas, image dimensions approx. 60 x 80 cm, framed, overall dimensions approx. 68 x 87 cm, provenance: private collection, Regensburg, see: Biography: German painter; in Munich, master student of Heinrich von Zügel and Leo von König, later studied in Berlin with Max Liebermann. 1932 Professor at the Zurich Academy of Fine Arts; taught painting and drawing to, among others, General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Churchill in the latter's impasto technique. Exhibitions of his paintings include the Imperial Palace in Tokyo and the White House.
